Academy Planner
Our mission

Get every kid in Europe playing by turning empty courts, school halls and community spaces into busy youth-sport hubs.

Start with one warehouse hub that trains coaches and keeps its court busy from 06:00 to 22:00. Then run our programmes in the schools and community centres around it on a profit share. Then repeat it city by city across Europe.

🏀

Blueprint: the lean warehouse

Drawn to scale. Change any room size in the Hub calculator (Edit detailed assumptions → Space & rent); the store room grows with the items on its checklist.

The plan: five phases

From one warehouse to Europe

The flywheel

each turn makes the next one easier

Why this works

🏭
The hub makes everything else easier

A court of our own to train coaches on, a showcase for schools and councils, a home for elite squads, and a timetable that earns money all day.

🏫
Partner venues scale cheaply

Empty school halls and community centres already exist next to the kids. A new site costs ~€4k of kit, not a building.

🏀
Basketball = most kids per coach

One court, one coach, 20–40 kids. Off-peak, the same floor hosts badminton, pickleball, yoga and dance. See why

🇪🇺
Europe wants this

Basketball is growing, indoor space is scarce, and Erasmus+ Sport funds youth projects up to €400k. Funding

🧠 Expert review: what to validate before investing 6 checks
1 · Pilot before the lease

Run 8–12 weeks of paid sessions in hired school halls. Measure sign-ups, attendance and churn, which turns occupancy guesses into data.

2 · Find the building first

Rent per m² and a clear height of 7 m+ decide whether the hub works. Put 3 real warehouse quotes into the calculator.

3 · Lock in coaches early

Coaches are the product. Check local rules (France: state diploma + card; Ireland: Garda vetting).

4 · One school letter of intent

A signed letter of intent from one school or council proves the partner model to investors and grant bodies.

5 · Non-profit arm from day one

Most grants need a non-profit club. Register it now so you can apply in the 2027 Erasmus+ round.

6 · Biggest risks

Year-1 occupancy, rent, coach turnover, venues cancelling, safeguarding. Mitigate with a pilot, profit-share deals, a coach academy and vetting.

Strategy · asset-light

Partner venues

We turn underused schools, community centres, colleges, courts, pools and halls into youth-sport venues. We bring the coaches, programmes, software and kit, and the venue brings the space. We share the profit.

Why basketball?

Five sports, same floor space, drawn to scale. Basketball runs 20–40 kids with one coach, and coaches are the cost that never stops.

🎯
What this compares: running a kids' coaching academy in the same floor space. It doesn't compare renting courts to adults by the hour, where padel, for example, can earn a lot per m². Click any underlined term for an explanation, and any fit-out amount for its breakdown and sources.

Head-to-head

brightest bar = best
⚖️
The honest picture. Basketball wins on kids per coach and coach cost per kid. Racket sports need one coach per court: squash fits 4 courts (20 kids, 4 coaches) where basketball runs 30 kids with 1 coach. Badminton and pickleball courts are cheaper to fit out, but they still need one coach each, and the basketball floor hosts them off-peak anyway (Timetable).

✨ Six more reasons basketball fits a kids' academy retention, schools, cost
👥 Team sport = kids stay

Kids come back for their friends and their team.

🏫 Schools already play it

It's in PE across Europe, which makes recruiting easier.

🎒 Cheap for families

Trainers and a ball. No racket, no court booking.

🔁 One floor, many uses

Camps, 3×3, badminton, pickleball, yoga, dance.

📈 Growing in Europe

Olympic 3×3, European NBA stars, a planned NBA Europe league.

⚖️ Girls and boys

Plenty of grants for girls' participation.

🪶 Lean fit-out: what we buy reuse the shell, buy smart

Lay sports tiles on the existing concrete instead of a €60k+ sprung wooden floor. Use adjustable or wall-mounted hoops, prefab rooms and second-hand kit where possible. Negotiate a rent-free fit-out period with the landlord.

One court, used all day

Portable nets give you 3 badminton or 3 pickleball courts, mats make a yoga studio, and dance schools rent the sprung floor. The academy keeps the after-school prime time. Pick an activity, then tap a slot to change the timetable.

📋 Activity breakdown hours, visits, revenue, cost

Activities marked In calculator already have their own line in the Hub calculator. Everything else is added there as “Extra programmes & multi-use”, so nothing is counted twice.

🧰 Conversion kit

Full handball (40 × 20 m) and futsal pitches are bigger than a basketball court (28 × 15 m), so those slots are for training and small-sided games only.
